Blue Sky Veterinary Services offers a range of services to the pet and livestock owners in Medicine Hat and the surrounding areas. These include diagnostic services, as well as medical and surgical procedures.

Blue Sky Veterinary Service Ltd. was founded by Dr. Megan Williams in 2012. Our mission is to provide outstanding service to our large animal clients. We emphasize strong communication, and providing you with the knowledge and ability to care for your animal. Our commitment is not only for the animals we care for, but the clients and community as a whole.

To our valued clients:

We are implementing a valuable new emergency telephone service. Same phone number, but an enhanced triage service!

Why are we doing this, you ask? The majority of the calls we get on the emergency line are not actually emergencies. Our hope is that we will decrease non-emergent after hours calls. Dr Williams is commited to the care of your animals, and will address your true emergencies.

The emergency phone number is the same - 403-580-9325. When you call after hours, you will reach the Animal Health Link and speak to a Registered Veterinary Technician, with many years of experience, who works closely with Veterinarians to assess your concerns and direct you as appropriate to Dr. Williams for emergency care.

They are not able to diagnose or prescribe medications; however, they can offer general and first aid advice. They will call Dr Williams if there are any pressing concerns or if you have a true emergency.

We will be charging a nominal fee of $20.00 for this service. Please note, if you have to contact the emergency service a number of times in a day for the same issue, you will only be charged once. The fee will be waived if your animal needs emergency care.

Dr. Williams was raised on a ranch in southern Alberta. Her upbringing allowed her to foster her love of animals and the community. She graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 2010.

Since then she has spent time in mixed animal practice, as well as a breeding season at the 6666 Ranch in Guthrie Texas where she assisted in breeding over 2100 mares, and foaled out over 350 mares.

Following her tenure at the 666 , she spent a year in Brandon, Florida completing a rotating surgical and field service internship, and worked with specialists in the field of equine dentistry.

Despite enjoying the warm southern weather, she always wanted to come home to Alberta. In the summer of 2012 she followed her dream of owning her own practice, and started Blue Sky Veterinary Services.

Dr. Williams has continued to further her education with specific focus on equine dentistry and reproduction. She has extensive training from internationally board certified Veterinary Dentists and is a member of the International College of Equine Veterinary Odontologists (ICEVO).

Megan Williams, DVM

Taylor MacPhail, RVT

Taylor was born and raised in Medicine Hat. After watching a C-section when she was 8 years old, she knew she wanted to work in the veterinary field.

She graduated from the Animal Health Technology program at Olds College, in 2019. Upon graduation, she worked at the Vancouver Aquarium at the Marine Mammal Rescue Centre rescuing and releasing injured and sick marine life. Cool!

She also worked in Alaska with Iditarod sled dogs prepping for the 2020 race.

She has two of her own dogs, Leyah and Nova, and a boat load of fish.

For fun, she golfs and races dirt bikes. She loves camping, paddle boarding and playing hockey. In fact, when she was in High School, she attended a hockey school in Warner Alberta, and played hockey all over North America. .

One day she hopes to be certified in Equine and Canine Rehab therapy.

Blue Sky Veterinary Services is currently looking for a part-time Mixed Animal Veterinarian.

Thank you for getting my horse in on such short notice and for your excellent and professional care!

Great vet kind and patient with my horses. She has done their teeth and regular vet checks went far and beyond looking after an eye injury that could have left him blind. Happy to say he is doing just fine. Also treated a lump on a show horse and removed it with no scaring.

Love it there love all the Vets and staff but more importantly my fur babies really love it there!!!
